Food Safety and Audit Manager
The Food Safety and Audit Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Food Safety Program at this company. The position supports management and employees in all aspects of the business to ensure our food is kept safe and to prevent food safety related issues before they occur. This position involves conducting audits of our vendors and suppliers to verify compliance with our company requirements and expectations. He/she verifies that the food safety program is comprehensive and makes changes as needed. He/she promotes food safety awareness and a culture of commitment to food safety. He/she provides guidance to all employees on matters relating to food safety.
Lead the Food Safety Team.
Manage the Food Safety Plan.
Assist plant personnel in the investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions of food safety related issues.
Manage the Internal Food Safety Audit Program.
Manage the External (Supplier/Vendor) Food Safety Audit Program.
Carry Out Vendor/Supplier Audits, which may include food processors, packaging facilities, storage facilities, and distribution centers.
Must be able to be away from home and willing to travel by car and/or airplane. Estimated travel can be up to 50%.
At least 10 years of food manufacturing Quality Control and/or equivalent food safety experience.
At least 10 years of experience conducting food safety audits.
Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences (biology, chemistry, food science, etc.), Engineering, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
Experience in auditing facilities that produce oils/fats and dry goods is preferred, but not required.
