Director of Technical Services – Microbiology and Research
Salary $140,000 - $150,000 Plus Bonus & Excellent Benefits & Relocation Programs
Our strong & steady client is experiencing tremendous growth and is seeking a Director of Technical Services for their Microbiology and Research Department in the Midwest.  With a PhD in Microbiology, you will be able to oversee microbiological procedures and projects.  As a leader, you will mentor the staff and evaluate and enforce the 17025 Quality Policy.
In this role as the Director of Technical Services, you’ll ensure that all strategic goals and objectives are met in order to promote expansion of the microbiological services provided, while implementing new methods.  Other responsibilities will be:
  • Oversee training programs to ensure that all microbiologists are trained properly
  • Prepare research proposals in regards to shelf life
  • Oversee Employee Safety Program
  • Ensure alignment with clients on expected outcomes
  • Work with Business development providing technical insight on new testing opportunities
  • Interface with customers as a technical expert.

Requirements for this Director of Technical Services position:
  • PhD in Microbiology, Cell Biology, or Food Science.
  • Minimum of 8 years of prior food laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of USDA, FDA, AOAC, ISO, CMMEF and IDF methodologies
  • Experience with performing indicator and pathogen testing of food products
  • Experience testing multiple food matrices
  • Experience working in a corporate food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to assess multiple microbiological protocols and determine the appropriate method of analysis
  • Ability to follow quality control and quality assurance protocols to ensure validity of test results
  • Experience with managing budgets
  • Certification and/or License – PCQI preferred.
