A $100MM+ food manufacturing company is looking to hire a Process / Technology Director for their manufacturing operations. This individual works closely with Plant Managers and Co-Manufacturers to develop and implement major manufacturing process improvements and new products.  Critical to success in this role is the ability to manage multiple and complex projects in different locations and with a board range of stakeholders.  The Process & Technology Director is also responsible for the ongoing equipment strategy and buying recommendations on a company-wide basis.  From time to time, the role may include planning and execution of plant building, expansion or relocation. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performance data and root cause analysis.
  • Designs and recommends process improvements.
  • Process improvement implementations with plant personnel both as participant and project manager. 
  • Ensure sustainable solutions through implementation of proper training, monitoring tools, periodic process reviews and refinements.
  • Lead or take part in product development projects.
  • Keep up-to-date with the newest confection, packaging and processing technologies to constantly evaluate their relevance and value to the company.
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  (No direct supervisory responsibility)
 
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering degree and strong background in the confections business. Chocolate mfg knowledge required. Lean Mfg experience is desirable.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated successful process improvement development and implementation.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities.
  • Verbally and in writing communicate effectively and promptly with all levels of management and manufacturing.  Must be fluent in English.
  • Strong mathematic skills with ability to calculate proportions, ratios, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry and statistics.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general engineering technology and business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
  • Skilled at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Employee is subject to and must comply with all company rules, regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices GMP’s.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Windows based software, database experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.  Experience with using ERP systems.  CAD and Microsoft Dynamics Navision experience preferred.
 
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

As required to inter-company facilities, co-packers, trade shows and suppliers.
